Small bike tour through the Kirchheller Heide

This almost 24 km long bike tour offers pure nature experience. From the parking lot in front Heath Lake the round initially runs along the lake shore. The Heidesee is a former gravel pit that is now a small natural oasis. Only a few kilometers further you drive through the Elsbachsee, also known as Pentecost Lake. Another, extraordinary natural idyll, which is still in the "process of formation" due to mountain subsidence caused by coal mining. The lake is growing and is already an important habitat for flora and fauna.

Over the fields of the Kirchheller Heide

The broad fields of the Kirchheller Heath. Past the Black Heath Airport, the tour takes you west and later south. Finally you cycle back to the starting point via the Rotbach route. The cycle path often runs alongside the beautiful watercourse. The Kirchheller Heide nature reserve on the border to the Hiesfeld Forest is particularly beautiful. Enjoy the wonderful forest air and experience nature from its most beautiful side.

Note on the discovery tours in the radrevier.ruhr

This tour is one of the discovery tours im radrevier.ruhr. This means that it also leads along cycle paths that are not part of the region's figureheads. However, accepting compromises in the quality of the cycle path also means being able to “experience” “undiscovered” tours off the popular and often heavily frequented cycle paths. Is a good path condition important to you? Then you should rather come to our 15 RevierRoutes drop by!
