The avenue cycle path in the district of Wesel is part of a particularly long and attractive railway cycle path that leads within the Ruhr Metropolis over 7,7 kilometers by bike from Xanten north to the district of Kleve. As the European Cycle Railway, the cycle path then continues into the Netherlands.

History of the old railway line
The railway line was in operation from 1904 to 1989. In 2011, the section north of Xanten was opened as a cycle path. The avenue cycle path in the district of Wesel is part of the tourist node system with junctions 43 and 44. It can be easily combined with the Bahntrassenradweg der Boxtel Railway combine.
