The RevierRoute canal passage – experience waterways

In addition to the RevierRouteRevierWater – experience rivers and lakes“ This tour also deals with the waters in the radrevier.ruhr. The main focus of this course is on the canals, which complement the natural river courses with direct shipping routes. Thus, the transport of goods and goods was extended to shipping early on. The canals are still used for this purpose today.

Historic canals and river landscapes worth seeing

The relatively short RevierRoute at 44 kilometers begins at the train station in Lünen and runs from there along the Lip. On the way to Waltrop you will also walk along the Datteln-Hamm Canal, before you continue the bike tour along the Lippe. South of Olfen you can discover a historic canal with the old trip that is no longer used.

Relaxed cycling in Haltern am See

You will then get along the Wesel-Datteln Canal to Haltern am See. Here, the canal bank paths are well developed and invite you to take a relaxing bike ride. With the Lippe ferry Maifisch you can sail past the reservoir in the historic old town and from there take the train back to Lünen.
