Discovery tour through the district of Unna

This almost 40-kilometer circuit takes you from the Gneisenau colliery in Dortmund through the Unna district. Away from the well-known paths, the route runs over beautiful shore paths, through unexpected forest areas and wide fields. With little traffic, this bike tour is also very suitable for families with children. Visiting highlights are the beautiful colliery scaffolding of the Gneisenau colliery, the works of art on the Sesekeweg and the Prussian port. At the Gneisenau-Park you will find some parking facilities on the side of the road for arriving by car. Dortmund-Derne train station is also right next to the colliery site.

A bike ride in nature

From the Gneisenau colliery, the circular route leads you south. Initially on smaller city streets with bike paths, it quickly leads to a great nature trail through a nature reserve. There you can take a deep breath and enjoy nature - relaxation guaranteed. The path leads you past the edge of Unna. You cycle along smaller streams such as the Massener Bach and later along the Körne. On the Sesekeweg, a short detour to the pixel tube is worthwhile, and a little later the sculpture “Now” is a welcome photo motif.

Railway track cycling back to the starting point

The route leads you along the Seseke to the Horstmar lake park in Lunen. At the Prussian port you get a delicious currywurst or a good piece of cake - just the right preparation for the way back via the Gneisenaustrasse. Away from the traffic, this railway line cycle path takes you back south to the starting point at the Gneisenau colliery.

Note on the discovery tours in the radrevier.ruhr

This tour is one of the discovery tours im radrevier.ruhr. This means that it also leads along cycle paths that are not part of the region's figureheads. However, accepting compromises in the quality of the cycle path also means being able to “experience” “undiscovered” tours off the popular and often heavily frequented cycle paths. Is a good path condition important to you? Then you should rather come to our 15 RevierRoutes drop by!
