Railway routes in the Ruhr area - the HOAG route

The approximately 12-kilometre-long HOAG route runs between Oberhausen and Duisburg, a former railway line belonging to Hüttenwerke Oberhausen Aktien Gesellschaft. Where coal was once transported by freight trains Sterkrade colliery transported in Oberhausen to the Rhine port in Duisburg-Walsum, today you cycle relaxed away from the traffic. The cycle path was opened in 2007 and is now an important part of the radrevier.ruhr in the western Ruhr area. Many bridges have been renovated so that cyclists can enjoy a cycling experience that is as crossing-free as possible.
