Railway routes in the Ruhr area - the Glückauf route

The Glückauf-Trasse, also known to many as the coal railway, leads you almost constantly slightly uphill to the south for around 14 kilometers from Hattingen. Cyclists have to climb around 240 meters to get to the Schee tunnel and the border to Wuppertal and the popular Nordbahn route. However, since freight trains could not master steep climbs at the time, the railway line meanders gently uphill in many curves.

Through beautiful nature and forest areas

The route is not yet paved, you are currently cycling on a sometimes more, sometimes less good water-bound surface. The tour is very worthwhile for trekking cyclists, as it leads through a particularly large amount of nature and beautiful forest areas.

Cycle the Glückauf route

The Glückauf route is part of the RevierRoute "From dysentery to dysentery“, which takes you 58 kilometers through the south of the radrevier.ruhr.
