The Ruhr Valley Cycle Path

The 240 kilometre Ruhr Valley Cycle Path follows the River Ruhr from its source in Sauerland, to the Rhine estuary in Duisburg. The cycling tour is an ADFC “4-Star Quality Cycling Route”, which combines nature and culture, and invites you to discover the Ruhr Valley. The cycling tour along the Ruhrlasts between three and five days. The landscape is intriguing, thanks to its tranquillity and mellowness, as well as its wealth of variety and great experiences.

Along the way, there are several attractions which offer you countless opportunities to combine your cycling tour with museums, industrial heritage, castles, musicals or shopping. It is easy for cyclists to reach the Ruhr Valley Cycle Path. The starting and ending points can be reached either by car or train. The route is well signposted. Several hostels and hotels warmly welcome cyclists for an overnight stay.

For cyclists who are not too keen on organising everything by themselves, Ruhr Tourismus GmbH has attractive Ruhr Valley Cycle Path package offers. These are explained briefly in the downloadable information leaflet, and can be booked directly online. Be inspired, bring your bike out of the cellar, and set out on a thrilling tour along the Ruhr Valley Cycle Path.
