The RevierRoute RestRooms - experience nature
As a new regional route since 2024, the "RuheRäume" (Spaces of Tranquility) tour combines approximately 53 kilometers of cycling through nature with several highlights along the way. From Oberhausen-Sterkrade train station, you first cycle to the Gasometer Oberhausen , the popular exhibition hall on the Rhine-Herne Canal. The route then follows the Jacobibahn railway cycle path to the highest freely accessible spoil heap in the Ruhr region, the Haniel spoil heap in Bottrop.
Driveway and view
The Stations of the Cross path leads up to the slag heap plateau with its magnificent view. Here you can immerse yourself in the vastness and tranquility of nature. The Rotbach Trail takes you through a beautiful forest to Dinslaken and on to the Rhine. The tour then follows the mighty river southwards for a short stretch, passing the newly renaturalized mouth of the Emscher. Finally, the HOAG railway line leads you past the Sterkrade coal mine and back to Oberhausen.
