The RevierRoute canal passage – experience waterways
In addition to the " RevierWasser – Experience Rivers and Lakes " route, this tour also explores the waterways of the radrevier.ruhr cycling region. The focus of this course is primarily on the canals, which supplement the natural river courses with direct shipping routes. This allowed the transport of goods and commodities to be extended to shipping at an early stage. The canals are still used for this purpose today.

The RevierRoute, a relatively short 44-kilometer route, begins at the train station in Lünen and runs along the Lippe River . On the way to Waltrop, you'll also cycle along the Datteln-Hamm Canal before continuing your tour along the Lippe. South of Olfen, you can discover the Alte Fahrt, a historic canal that is no longer in use.
Relaxed cycling in Haltern am See
Afterwards, you'll follow the Wesel-Datteln Canal to Haltern am See. The canal paths here are well-maintained and perfect for a leisurely bike ride. Take the Maifisch ferry across the Lippe River, past the Haltern Reservoir, into the historic old town, and from there you can take the train back to Lünen.
