Racing bike tours in the Ruhr area - with the racing bike through the cycling area.ruhr

Glide through the radrevier.ruhr on narrow tires and get the last reserves out of your body. Of course, the inner cities in the Ruhr area are not really suitable for racing cyclists. But in the surrounding area you can go on wonderful rides on a racing bike.

On the road with the racing bike in the Ennepe-Ruhr district

In the south, the road bike tours lead you through the rural Ennepe-Ruhr district. Along with the Ruhr valley, there are also a few meters of altitude that need to be mastered. Even if the mountain ratings are not comparable to the Alps, the constant ups and downs are still a real challenge for the body. The Ennepe round is slightly modified (because the railway line between Breckerfeld and Haspe is not paved, you should choose the road here), for example a popular racing bike route, which requires a little muscle wax with its climb up to the Ennepetalsperre.

So seductive railway tracks are also, for racing cyclists they are only suitable to a limited extent. On the one hand, not all routes are asphalted and the narrow tires can quickly reach their limits on soft ground or gravel. On the other hand, the railway lines are very busy, especially in the warm season. Families with children like to use them, so the railway tracks should only be planned for easy gliding. Roads with little traffic are better for faster exits.

While the official Ennepe round with the gravel one Kleinbahn line Haspe-Voerde-Breckerfeld is more for gravel bikes, this slight modification with an additional, steep climb and thus 720 meters in altitude is an attractive circuit for racing cyclists. From Hagen-Haspe, the route first takes you uphill past the Kettelberg. From Breckerfeld follows a rapid descent into the Volme valley near Priorei. From there the tour leads uphill again to the Ennepetalsperre. From here it goes downhill again through the beautiful valley of the Ennepe. After passing through Ennepetal and Gevelsberg, you can comfortably roll back to Haspe on your racing bike.
